That is what I aim to be, and that is what I aim to bring to every person, and especially every student I come into contact with. Today, my students have been flung from the ivory tower of reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic and into the dazzling reality of participating in their future as gatherings in this peaceful nation have gained momentum and, sadly, turned violent in some areas.
For a good global citizen, there are great decisions to be made. Participation is a vital step, but it is only meaningful if it is in line with the principles we aspire to. The good of all will always depend on peace and stability.
I pray that my beloved students, and this nation that has been so good to me, will act in accordance with their highest beliefs. Participation, yes. Prosperity, yes, when we contribute to it, it gradually follows. Peace, above all.

To clear up any confusion, on the morning of 28 February was that swift and effective actions had been taken by the state to meet demands to address corruption and economic difficulties. Gatherings were peaceful, with the exception of an isolated incident where certain groups had resorted to unrelated vandalism and looting, according to an eyewitness friend.
A great deal of excitement has, however, spread online, where outdated and misrepresented reports dating back up to 15 hours are still being hyped. Oddly, little is said about the result of the incidents. The sensationalistic mass hysteria is unfounded, inappropriate and largely generated abroad. Check the facts on the ground before getting swept up.
My objection would be that the financial concessions are not based on merit. My students' tertiary studies are not only fully subsidised, but each student also receives a stipend, which has been uniformly increased. I believe an increase based on merit would have been much more effective in many respects.
